Comment: Honestly, one of the worst places I’ve ever been. They had us confined to the dorm area, which was a small hallway and our rooms, for 18-20 hours a day. There was only one phone, and you were allowed only one five minute call a day. I tried to call my job to let them know where I was and how long I would be there and the staff started yelling at me to get off the phone when the call went over five minutes due to being put on hold. They held me hostage for a week because “that’s just how things are here” even though I was fine after the mandatory 72 hours for being suicidal.
The food was terrible and there was very little of it and staff would make fun of the more eccentric patients there. the bathroom doors were also almost nonexistent and very easy to look into, when I asked if there was a private shower due to my history of sexual abuse, one of the nurses scoffed, rolled her eyes, and said “nobody’s gonna go in there and hurt you” despite the fact that while I was there there was a thief that would go into your room while you were showering to look for snacks and cigarettes. There are multiple human rights violations and honestly, I wouldn’t send my worst enemy here.
Type of program (i.e. day program, inpatient): Inpatient
Any other identities/marginalizations i.e. race/gender/sexuality that could have influenced your stay?: They didn’t listen to a thing I said about my treatment, but they listened to the men just fine
