Queen Mary Hospital

Name of Hospital: Queen Mary Hospital

City, State/Province, Country: Hong Kong

Number of Stars: 3

Comment: Mental health professionals such as psychologists were respectful; many genuinely tried to help but did not offer much other than encouragement and medication; there was no proper therapy. Nurses varied nice to condescending to outright disdainful. As it is a public hospital funding is limited so patients are mostly confined indoors with limited activities, especially for the children’s ward. Felt very confined and constantly monitored during the end of my stay, which worsened my depression.

Type of program (i.e. day program, inpatient): Inpatient

Any other identities/marginalizations i.e. race/gender/sexuality that could have influenced your stay?: Not Cantonese (but Chinese)
