Comment: I was not one of “those really crazy people,” the admissions staff told me, so it wouldn’t be a hard time at all. I suppose that was true. WPIC provided me psychiatric help for the first time in my life, and I’m grateful (especially to the ER doctor who sent me an emergency prescription when I went home for break and forgot my meds) but I have to wonder what would have happened if I’d disclosed a little more. -3 for ableist staff, scratchy blankets, lazy weekend doctors, and the helicopter pad on the roof; +3 for giving me space, taking me seriously, letting me draw on the windows, and hotel-quality bathrooms. Sometimes I miss the place a bit.
