Brattleboro Retreat

Name of Hospital: Brattleboro Retreat

City, State/Province, Country: Brattleboro, VT

Number of Stars: 4.5

Comment: Kind, supportive, and attentive. The hospital is spacious and the grounds are beautiful. For the most part, I felt listened to, and I felt as if my health was a priority. I thought that the inclination away from sedatives was ill advised but considering the addiction crisis happening in Vermont, I ultimately understood. I felt ready when I left and I felt supported.

Type of program (i.e. day program, inpatient): Inpatient

Any other identities/marginalizations (i.e. race/gender/sexuality) that could have influenced your stay?: I was in the LGBT ward, which was really fabulous, as we made preferred name plaques to hang on our doors and everyone did their very best to separate my preferred name and pronouns from my birth name and assigned gender.
