Comment: I was admitted around 3 AM on a Friday and left around noon on a Monday. The ER staff were very friendly and so were the unit staff. I only saw the therapist once during my stay and I don’t even remember what we talked about because it was unhelpful. The therapist was not in the unit for the weekends. I was given a single bed room with its own shower and bathroom. My first night there I was awoken very early in the morning to nurses drawing my blood.

I slept most of the first day and the nurses kept having to wake me up to get me to participate. Participation was highly encouraged or else they threatened you with a longer stay. Staff got angry with me one day for not eating all of my breakfast despite dietary issues. The other patients were friendly and the group therapy was somewhat helpful. We had access to a TV room and had visitation two times a day. There were groups scheduled throughout the day so it provided some stimulation.

On Saturday they had pet therapy and we got to merge with the other psych unit to pet a very nice dog. Visitors were allowed to bring snacks (no cans and no caffeinated drinks). You got to write a list of who could see you and get information on you and who you did not want to see you. I was prescribed a higher dose on my anti-depressants. An issue I had was that they lost my inhaler and some over the counter meds that I had brought with me. I got them back after a while but it was exhausting. I would definitely recommend staying here, but don’t expect much help unless you go during the week.

Type of program (i.e. day program, inpatient): Inpatient

Any other identities/marginalizations (i.e. race/gender/sexuality) that could have influenced your stay?: Lesbian, disabled
