Comment: A person that I was friends with at the time (I ended our friendship after my ordeal) called the police on me, claiming that I had threatened to harm myself and others, which I had not. The police did not bother to verify this claim, and shoved me in the back of a police car.
Upon arriving to the facility, I was taken to a small room by a couple of orderlies and police officers. I asked if I could call my parents, and they said no, because I had turned eighteen the week prior. I began to have a panic attack (went non-verbal, held my head in my hands), and the police officers promptly slammed me to the ground, twisting my arms behind my back, claiming that I had “threatened” them by having a panic attack.
I was then put in a waiting room of sorts, where another patient repeatedly yelled sexual harassment at me, threatening to rape me, until they put me in a room by myself, isolating me from everyone. I was stuck in the tiny room behind a closed door for seven hours, staring at the walls and praying, until they decided I was not a danger to myself or others, and let me go. They then charged me $100 for my involuntary and unnecessary and traumatizing stay in their facility.
