Comment: Truth be told, the whole hell-fest began at Mercy Hospital in Iowa City where I went after attempting to overdose on pain meds. The ‘therapist’ I saw briefly in the ER there accused me of only attempting to OD to get attention and that I was faking it. I didn’t know at the time that I could agree to outpatient treatment and NOT see her, I thought she would be my therapist and after she mocked me and made me feel like absolute trash…I refused, of course, because I didn’t want to talk to someone so absolutely unprofessional.
She took that as me refusing all treatment, period, and that’s how I would up being taken via police car to Allen Hospital in a town almost three hours away. I wasn’t violent, in fact I was absolutely terrified, and yet I was handcuffed for the entire drive up. To this day I have intense anxiety around police officers, even hearing the sirens gives me intense fear.
