Comment: After I was admitted to an emergency room for an overdose, this was the first hospital to have a bed open almost 3 hours away from my home. I did not arrive until 6 in the morning and they first discussed they would need to do a check of my belongings. They first took away my comfort object which was the teddy bear that I’ve had since I was a baby. They claimed that I could not have it because it was not appropriate for a teenager to have. This sent me into a full on panic attack and my father tried to reason with them so that I would calm down. They had to rip it from my arms as I continued hyperventilating and pulling out my hair. Finally, they checked me in and proceeded to speak baby talk to me.

Since I barely slept the night due to my being in an emergency room, they let me sleep the morning and afternoon away. Until they forced me out of bed and made me go to school which was a nurse giving us coloring sheets and kindergarten math. During the first I had to take my PRN twice in order to survive being treated like a child and being so far from home. Whenever we weren’t doing an activity that they somehow believed was treatment, the other kids and I sat around, staring into space since we were not allowed to have games or even crayons without an adult around us.

The second day included the therapists teaching us about HIPPA even though they explained it in its entirety during the admission process. Then the dietitian came down and proceeded to teach us about healthy eating even though at every meal they only offered junk food. She even called diabetes “dia-beat us” amongst spreading other incorrect information about health. I did not even get to meet my supposed therapist towards the end of the second day. When that happened, I talked to them for 5 minutes and they told me my dad was coming down for a family meeting before sending back to sit around and do nothing.

The third day I finally got transferred to a facility closer to home even though they tried to stop me from leaving even though we all knew they could not give me the treatment I needed. All in all, this place is a complete joke filled with rules and practices that limit and baby its patients. I would avoid this facility like the plague and find a more competent program.

Comment: I came to this hospital on the recommendation of my pyschiatrist and my family and boyfriend had came with me for support. I was taken back to the ward without being told where I was going and that I would get a chance to say good bye to my family. I never got to.

I was very anxious during the intake process and kept asking my nurse if i could say goodbye to my family, but she didn’t tell me until they were sending me to bed (an hour after the first time I’d asked) that my family had been told to leave right after I came back with the nurse. They knew this the whole time and refused to tell me or answer my questions.

Several of my items from my bag were stolen, including money that my nervous mother had insisted I bring. I can only assume it was stolen by someone on the nursing staff because I saw them take it back to the station and directly to the room where personal belongings are stored.

The first day nurse assigned to my room was very kind and probably the only good thing about my stay. I was suffering with very bad social anxiety and had been told there were one on one therapy sessions at this hospital, but they only had group. I was also mistakenly given a medication that knocked me out for the better part of a day. I know I wasn’t out for the entirety of it, but I only have vague memories of what happened. I don’t have any mental illness that would warrant being given something this strong. My pyschiatrist misread the name of one of the medications on my list and it was corrected after I refused to take it again and demanded to see her to ask about it.

Comment: I was placed in this hospital under suicide watch, and stayed for 8 days. It was actually incredibly helpful, but boring if the residency is less than 7/12. Staff is helpful as long as your cooperative, and usually try to understand your problems…(there was an incident with a flashback that one of the resident students tried to help and told me to suck it up, but eh, that was only 1 of 20+ nurses).
